New Year @ The Cafe

Café Wylde is celebrating their one year anniversary this Friday the 7th!

What does this mean for everyone? Not a whole lot, but some changes are most defiantly happening. Just to name a few: new hours are coming soon, an addition of a kid’s menu, and the long requested smoothie punch cards! There is more happening but you'll just have to visit us during our customer appreciation celebration to see them! That is taking place @ the Cafe on Friday the 7th. There will be various free samples of some of our favorite menu items. We are also offering free Reiki mini sessions from 3-6pm.

Back to the new changes; What I believe to be the most exciting change is Café Wylde is starting a blog!!

Without further ado: Welcome to Café Wylde’s first blog post!!! Can I get another woo-hoo?! Go ahead, we still love you at the café even if that guy over there did just give you a funny look.

If you’re like me and love to read, as well as love Café Wylde’s deliciousness, then maybe you’re also like me and signed up for the newsletter and kept checking back for a blog post. Maybe Miss Café Wylde would indulge us with some of her wisdom, or a recipe, or maybe a coupon for some of the events she has going on? These are the things I kept hoping for. After waiting though it became apparent to me that a blog post and a newsletter was not coming anytime soon, if ever. Once that fact dawned on me and being the nosy, overly curious chick that I am, I went into the Café and asked the owner what the heck was going on? I mean come on, you have a newsletter sign up, right? There is a page for blog posts on your web page, right? Where were they? I felt like she just must have a lot to say! I actually know she has a lot of story to her that she could imbue some of wisdom with for us. Miss Café Wylde’s story is pretty damn amazing and incredibly inspirational. This is what I know:

After some soul searching in California, she discovered her passion was in herbs, holistic healing, the environment, and food in general. Well, she already knew these were all interests in her life, but the soul-searching hiatus made the roots of these interest dig deep and develop into some beautifully blossomed passion. After coming to terms and accepting the fact that she is not patient(no shame there sister!) enough to become a college degree doctor or anything to help people she started brainstorming ideas on how she could begin a path of helping people, or her environment, or both! Somehow, she just knew, there was a way. Although college is still a possibility, she avoided that for the time being and went through a trial and error procedure for about 2 years trying to figure out the next step. Her first idea was to sell juice out of a food truck on the beach of California. (personally, I hope she still does go down the food truck path, everyone should taste this chick’s pies and smoothies if nothing else from her kitchen!! Am I right?) She and her sister stumbled across a space for rent behind Jay’s Market in Lake Stevens WA. For whatever reason, that I cannot fathom, they decided to rent it out. They decided that they were going to sell teas and herbs. I say that I cannot fathom what possessed these intelligent women to do this because this was the worst space imaginable to set up a…well, anything. There was no room, no parking, no light, no air conditioning, and on first look the place was ugly. Not only that but the other markets in the area were making business difficult. There was a rule there that there was to be no competitive business. So they could not sell coffee or any coffee shop related item, as there was a coffee shop there. There was also a Buzz In to the side and so they were not allowed to sell dinner. Like I said, worst spot ever! Miss Café Wylde and sister hand in hand took this, quite literally whole in the wall spot and turned it into a thriving business called the Ringing Cedar Tea Tavern. It ended up being a big hit for the locals; From what I hear they actually really miss it.

Although the plan was to be a Tea Tavern establishment Miss Café knew she wanted more; She knew she was capable of offering more, of doing more. Miss Café also has this adventurous personality trait where upon being presented with restrictions, she turns them into challenges. So with these challenges in a place she was determined to figure out a way to do what she wanted anyways. Since they were already in a restaurant type area, food just made sense made sense. Miss Café Wylde pondered on the quote “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”-Hippocrates, as well as a couple other things such as the leaky gut discovery, the rise to food intolerance's, and modern agriculture practices. These factors combined gave birth to an all vegan and organic menu. She didnt stop there though, everything she uses is organic and eco friendly. Like, even her hand soap is organic! There is more to the story after that but fast forward 3 years and here we all are, loving this tiny vegan restaurant together! Now we are enjoying the food in Everett though and under a new name.

As I said, her story is truly inspirational. So why isn’t she talking about it if she has a blog page? Maybe she didn't want to discuss to much of her personal story? Well OK, that's understandable but

still, there’s a blog page set up for a reason. Maybe she was waiting to take an entrepreneur side to it? According to Forbes.com, the food service industry is the fourth riskiest business to start up in America. Starting a business without any investors or sponsors is another huge risk all in itself. To top that off, Miss Café Wylde decided to make an all-vegan menu; In Everett of all places. Yes, Everett is in Seattle’s backyard, where vegan restaurants are becoming a mainstream. Yes, veganism has grown in popularity over the years but there are still enough haters around with their loud mouths to make one feel as though creating a vegan eatery would be damn near impossible. Against all these odds I’m sure most people wouldn’t believe that there is an audience big enough to even support a vegan restaurant. But clearly there is, I’m sure the delicious food is the main culprit here. I mean seriously, I’ve seen plenty of non-vegans rave about its pure awesomeness. If you haven’t been there yet just because you’re afraid of vegan food or whatever, your taste buds are missing out on some delicious cooking! Anyways, after all these amazing feats and being successful even in the face of near disaster more than once she could easily take an entrepreneur approach to a blog and make many people feel educated enough to try risk taking in the business world on for themselves. There is plenty of things she could have discussed with her customers through a blog, that I’m willing to bet a whole paycheck on that we would all love to learn! People love learning about paths to success and food. Definitely food; I think everyone can agree we all love food, or else this blog post wouldn't even be happening.

So anyways, remember how I said I asked her where in the world was this blog and/or newsletter I had signed up for? Well this is what she had to say:

“As the owner, I have found that there is a method to creating a well balanced, stable, strong, abundant, flourishing business and that is by going about it as a team, a community of people, not alone. I already am spending so much time trying to make the physical establishment thrive, that to be a healthy and balanced individual I had to drop the computer life in order to have time for myself. I also believe everyone has their own strengths and by bringing them together we can create something truly magical. Computers and writing letters are not a strength I possess, unfortunately. By delegating, it relieves pressure off my shoulders allowing my creativity to thrive at my highest potential! 😊 and this is also what frees the stage for others to shine and bring their beauty to for-shine. I just don’t know who to delegate this responsibility out to quite yet. “

Well, there you go. After getting that response I just went home and kind of thought about it for a few days. I kept thinking about how inspiring Miss Café Wylde is and how she stumbled from one inspiration and opportunity to the next that led her to where she is. I thought about my own life choices and how I am where I am. I also thought ‘who is going to satisfy this need for all of us readers interested in the Café!!’ because there is just no way I'm the only one who wouldn't mind a Cafe Wylde blog to go with Cafe Wylde food. I decided to take Miss Cafes lead and took a leap and after some discussion with her, I am now going to be running this blog and Café Wyldes website. That was a huge leap for me by the way! I am way outside of my comfort zone.

OK, so who am I? Who is going to be responding to your inquiries that you send over this website? Why am I the one authoring this blog? Especially if it's outside my comfort zone? I’m Samy! No, not that Sammie that greets you with her beautiful face when you walk through the café doors, I’m a different chick. We’ve probably never met. I tend to stay home, A LOT! I have 3 baby boys and a wonderful husband that I give around the clock attention and care too. I also have a needy cat named Purrfesor Mewgonnagal who surprisingly requires a lot of attention. My dreams were to grow up and become a nutritionist. Or a yoga instructor, or both...yeah both would have been good. I, as well as Miss Café, am super passionate about the environment. I am waiting on finances to allow me to attend a class to become an herbalist and I also dream of helping the world and people around me. I am not a patient person either and can't really imagine myself going to college for 8+ years to become a full blown doctor in order to start helping people. I love reading and I write in journals a lot. In my free time, I write my own essays and book reports on nutrition, alternative holistic healing techniques, and various other subjects. Nutrition and how it effects people and the chain reaction that causes for the world is a huge passion of research for me. Miss Café Wylde is my best friend and has been since we were babes in high school. I have absolutely no previous experience in writing professionally, or in a blog type setting. I’m a medical assistant and I used to work for a Naturopathic Clinic in Snohomish up until kids took over my life and I allowed them to consume every minute of it. That’s me in a paragraph or less.

So, I’m the one authoring this blog because Miss Café Wylde has no desire to spend her precious free time in front of a computer. I on the other hand love reading and writing as much as I love talking, have close to the same education on topics we are passionate about, and have plenty of free time that I already end up filling up with conversations with mostly myself. I want to help people, even if that means all I’m doing is helping the ones who are doing the actual helping. So this is why I am the one writing this blog. It made sense for me to volunteer my time and help her with this amazing avenue to add to her already flourishing business. Everyone is winning here. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to try my hand at professional style writing. Yes, I am aware that this post may not be professional, like at all, and its pure blog style. I wanted to introduce myself, as myself. I felt it best for you viewers and Café Consumers to know a little bit about who you’re going to be talking to in the future.

When I started writing this post I simply wanted to introduce myself….well..that’s actually a lie. It took me a long time to even get up the courage to introduce myself. I had no clue how I was going to go about making a blog as this is something entirely new for me. When I first started writing this post I was going to present the café in the blog as if the café were communicating to you with no personality, as if the café was a corporate identity that didn’t have an identity. I immediately scrapped that idea once I started writing and again took Miss Café Wylde’s lead and tried something different. I decided to just be the real me with you guys. I mean one of Miss Café’s whole ideas is real food, so why not real people too? Café Wylde is a beautiful establishment with an amazing, strong, and even more beautiful owner who displays her personality in all her choices and I think her blog should follow suit. I’m no Miss Café Wylde, (were honestly totally different people) but hopefully, I can help convey her message here to all of you.

Instead of just introducing myself I wanted to tell you all Miss Café`s story so that others can see how life opens doors in ways you’d never even think of. Life is truly full of surprises and abundance. It may be overstated, but staying positive, having an open mind, and keeping a keen eye on the opportunities around you can help lead you down the path of success. Even if you must use your imagination to see those opportunities. It’s what is working for Miss Café Wylde. It’s what has led me here to this tremendous opportunity to broaden my horizons and do something that I get enjoyment out of. Don’t give up, don’t be afraid of failure, or challenging work, or critics, and you will end up where you want to be.

Alrighty people enough of the life coach style pep talk. This is possibly the last I’ll be talking about me because from here on out I have tons of ideas to be writing to you guys about! So, check back every 2 weeks for updates. A newsletter is also in the works so keep an eye on your inboxes as well. I don’t have an exact date as to when that will be making its appearance but I can say it’s going to be soon. Thank you all and to all a good night ;p
